DO YOU WANT TO STOP SMOKING?
Hypnotherapy is rapidly becoming the most effective and popular method of assisting people to stop smoking. Most smokers know on a conscious level that smoking is harmful and can be linked to many different health issues such as COPD, strokes and Cancer and that by stopping they will be healthier and wealthier.
Many smokers will realize that vaping, nicotine patches and chewing gum is just replacing one addiction with another. Some patients I have helped have told me how they removed the patches so they could smoke!
If you are thinking about Hypnotherapy to stop the first step is to make sure that you are actually doing it for yourself and not because family and friends are nagging you to. The nagging although well natured may trigger a certain rebellion in you…no one likes to be told what to do!
The second step is to come to terms with the fact that you are an addict; nicotine is just as addictive as cocaine (both are drugs). Once you accept this then you are ready to shake off the crazy monkey on your shoulder. This is the voice that encourages you to smoke, the voice that says you need a cigarette, you don’t need one, cigarette’s need you more than you need them!
The third step is to understand that smoking is not a normal thing to do! You weren’t born smoking it’s a habit that you started probably in your early teens because everyone else was doing it to look cool or grown up! Smoking is abnormal ,not to smoke is normal, I will qualify that…do you think it’s normal to inhale poisonous toxins in your body when you know they are poisonous? Would you eat food that was a week past it’s sell by date? No, you wouldn’t so why would you think it’s normal to smoke?
So you may be thinking “what does this person know about smokers?What gives him the right to call me abnormal?”. I used to smoke 40 cigarettes a day I was “abnormal” for years until I stopped with hypnosis!
