What is PTSD
PTSD is a mental health state which can be the result of the sufferer experiencing or seeing a form of trauma. This can then develop into severe anxiety…
Hypnotherapy to help overcome Fears can be very effective.
Whether it’s a fear of flying, spiders, snakes, heights, public speaking or even a fear of fear, everyone has experienced that uncomfortable rush of adrenaline. For some people, though, fear doesn’t just show up occasionally…it gets in the way of daily life . If that sounds familiar you’re far from alone and there are gentle effective ways to help you move forward. Hypnotherapy is a recognised way of helping over fear.
Most people tend to think of someone swinging a pocket watch and saying in a 1940s actor’s voice, “You will go to sleep, you are getting sleepy” Hypnotherapy is nothing like that. It is actually a calm, collaborative process that helps you to relax deeply and explore the thoughts, memories or patterns behind your fears.
Hypnotherapy works by helping you access your subconscious mind…the part where emotional responses and long held beliefs tend to hang out. When you are in a relaxed, focused state (kind of like that dreamy place between being awake and asleep) your mind becomes more open to new and healthier ways of thinking. You’re not unconscious , you’re not controlled you’re simply more receptive.
Sometimes the object of a person’s fears are not actually the problem.
For example, recently a client came to me with a fear of spiders and couldn’t figure out why she had this fear. Through accessing the memory bank of the subconscious mind under hypnosis it seemed that every time something upsetting happened in her life there was a spider lurking in the background!
So it was an association and not the spiders that were the problem. Understanding the reason helped her shift her fear.

Many fears are learned for example i once had a client with a fear of lifts, we managed to trace this back to her mother and her as a child being stuck in a lift, her frightened younger self looked to her mother for reassurance only to find her having a massive panic attack!
Or perhaps you had a frightening childhood experience or possibly your mind has created a shortcut that jumps straight to the fear even when you’re not in danger. Hypnotherapy can help you trace those reactions to their origins and gently rewrite the story, a bit like deleting outdated files in a computer.
Another example would be someone with a fear of flying might be tense or panicked just thinking about airports . Through guided relaxation and visualization that person can begin to reshape the inner narrative replacing catastrophic thoughts with calmer and more realistic ones. Over time new patterns take root and the fear loses it’s grip.
Hypnotherapy will empower you with tools you can use outside of your sessions.
I will teach you techniques like breathing exercises, grounding strategies and positive affirmations that will help you stay centred when your fear starts creeping in.
Its not about magically erasing fear it’s about learning how to approach it with more confidence and feeling less overwhelmed.
Of course hypnotherapy isn’t a one size fits all miracle cure. However for many people it can be a very powerful part of a broader healing process.
If fear has been holding you back then exploring hypnotherapy can be a compassionate, calming way to move forward. After all you deserve a life with more ease, more confidence and more moments when you can simply breathe!
